Srinivasa Heart Foundation/Srinivasa Heart Centre organised the World No Tobacco Day 2010 Meet at Ravindra Bharathi,Hyderabad,India on May 31,2010.(10 AM TO 1 PM.)An exhibition on "Tobacco" was inaugurated by Sri.Ponnala Lakshmaiah,Hon'ble Minister for Major Irrigation,Govt. Of A.P. The exhibition displayed posters on health aspects of tobacco,WHO's MPOWER Policy and the COTP Act. The WNTD 2010 Meet on "Effective Implementation of Tobacco Prevention in India--Translating WHO's MPOWER Policy to Practice and Review of the COTP Act" was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by Sri.Ponnala Lakshmaiah,Hon'ble Minister for Major Irrigation,Govt. Of A.P. and other dignitaries who included Prof.Dr.Nageshwar.MLC.,Sri.Potthuri Venkateshwar Rao,Senior Journalist,Dr.N.Appa Rao,National Coordinator,Indian Medical Association,Dr.Gutta Suresh,President,A.P.State,Indian Medical Association. and Dr.A.Srinivasa Kumar.President,Cardiological Society of India,A.P. Chapter. Dr.Srinivas Ramaka,Chairman,Srinivasa Heart Foundation and Consultant Cardiologist,Srinivasa Heart Centre and organiser of this meet gave an introduction on the topic which was followed by speeches by the dignitaries.A DVD album containing resource material on "Tobacco" was released on this occassion.A poster on tobacco prevention was also released.Representatives of Vasavi Club got a pamphlet on tobacco prevention released.The meet ended with concluding remarks by Dr.Srinivas Ramaka.The meet was well attended by the lay public, press and friends.
